Nutritional innovations on amino acids supplementation in Nile tilapia diets R. Bras. Zootec.
Furuya,Wilson Massamitu; Furuya,Valéria Rossetto Barriviera.
The optimal dietary supply of amino acids to tilapia has been studied for many years. Nevertheless, a general agreement on the amino acid requirement for tilapias has not been established. In order to optimize efficiency and reduce surplus nitrogen, values of digestibility of each amino acid of feed must be considered. Due to variations in the amino acid requirement due to new tilapia strains introduction, continuous research on amino acid requirements is necessary to elaborate economical and environmental sustainability diets, also improving fish growth, efficiency and fillet yield. The concept of ideal protein in tilapia diets was introduced more than ten years ago, and new researches have shown the importance of protein and amino acids on fish...

Nutritional quality of the protein of Vigna unguiculata L. Walp and its protein isolate Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Frota,Karoline de Macêdo Gonçalves; Lopes,Lays Arnaud Rosal; Silva,Izabel Cristina Veras; Arêas,José Alfredo Gomes.
ABSTRACT A protein's true digestibility and amino acid composition are important characteristics for its nutritional characterisation. This study determined the true digestibility of the protein from cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp.) and of its protein isolate, and their nutritional values were estimated after correcting for the amino acid score. The protein was isolated from the defatted whole bean by its alkaline solubilisation and isoelectric precipitation. The amino acid composition of the protein from the whole bean and from the isolate was determined by ion-exchange chromatography. Protein digestibility was assessed by the nitrogen balance method. The amino acid score is the lowest value obtained from the ratio between the individual amount of each...

Nutritional value of dual-purpose wheat genotypes pastures under grazing by dairy cows Animal Sciences
Quatrin, Mauricio Pase; Olivo, Clair Jorge; Bratz, Vinicius Felipe; Alessio, Vinicius; Santos, Fabiene Tomazetti dos; Aguirre, Priscila Flores.
In the south of Brazil, one of the major limitations to milk production is the low forage availability during autumn and early winter. The use of dual-purpose wheat genotypes is one alternative to minimize the impact of low forage availability in addition to produce grains. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the nutritional value of two dual-purpose wheat genotypes (BRS Tarumã and BRS Umbu). Structural composition and forage nitrogen uptake were evaluated. The nutritional value of the forage was analyzed for mineral matter (MM), organic matter (OM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), crude protein (CP), total digestible nutrients (TDN), in situ organic matter digestibility (ISOMD) and in situ dry matter digestibility (ISDMD). Differences in NDF (49.03 vs....

Abstract: The objective of this work was to assess the nutritive value of four elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) genotypes. The chemical composition, intake by sheep, and digestibility of different genotypes (G1, G2, G3, and G4) were evaluated. A dry matter (DM) digestibility assay was performed with total leftovers and feces collected from 20 sheep kept in metabolic cages. G3 had lower DM intake in grams per animal per day compared with G1 and G2, and it had greater digestibility, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, and acid detergent fiber values. G1, G2, and G4 have the best nutritive values among the evaluated genotypes.
